If you are getting married this year you need to read this. First of all, congratulations! I hope the married life is everything you’ve dreamt of. But secondly, and most importantly, don’t make the same mistake that many planning a wedding make.
During your special day, there will inevitably be times where not much is happening. For example, post ceremony, during the drinks reception, guests are left mingling for a couple of hours. Whilst this is very necessary for the smooth running of a wedding, it can become uneventful and potentially even a little boring for some guests. This is an example of where a close-up magician would be perfect! During this time, your magician will mingle with guests, providing entertainment that feels natural and unobtrusive. Unlike live bands and music, which everyone must listen to whether they like it or not, walkaround magic allows guests to politely decline if they are not interested in the magic (but I can assure you that this rarely happens!). Therefore, the first reason for hiring a mix and mingle magician is to fill less busy parts of the day.
Secondly, a close-up magician will add the wow factor to your special day. Trust me when I say, people will be talking about ‘that magician from your wedding’ for years to come. A lot of people have seen magicians on the TV, however few have seen professionals in real life. This means it is easy to put what they’ve previously seen down to camera tricks, making it feel even more impossible when seen in real life at your wedding. This added magic will bring an extra buzz and excitement to your day, ensuring everyone loves it as much as you hopefully do.

Thirdly, for the couple themselves. Many close-up magicians are able to provide something special you. Often, they will do a trick different from what everyone else has seen, creating a special, one-of-a-kind keepsake for the couple, leaving you with a magical memory of your day. For example, without giving too much away, I perform a special card trick for the newlyweds around connection and the rings of marriage, leaving you with an object that seems impossible at the end. If this is something you’d love, I would recommend checking if this is something your supplier can accommodate beforehand, just in case that is something they don’t usually do.
A good wedding magician not only performs brilliant pieces of magic, that appear nothing short of a miracle to guests but also are friendly and able to connect well with the audience, making everyone feel like a special part of the day.
If this blog has convinced you to book a magician for your wedding, make sure to enquire early, as we get booked up fast during wedding season.
