Storytelling through magic

Storytelling is something we all learn from a young age. Whether it be through picture books, creating our own short stories in primary school, or listening to parents read to us, storytelling has always been there. As time progresses, I feel we lose this part of our lives slightly, and our creativity begins to fade. That sense of wonder we once felt almost daily, becomes that rare thing we long for.

That’s why every time I step onto the stage I have only one goal in mind. Not to simply entertain, but to bring back that same sense of wonder to people. Magic to me is not about the skill or the ability to fool someone, it's about telling a story and making the people watching feel something real.

I love combining music into my magic, because music on its own tells a powerful story. The artists pouring all of their emotions into songs for millions to hear. Picture this, an already powerful song combined with visual storytelling and moments of wonder all together on a stage. This makes me feel unstoppable, fully able to pass the feeling onto the audience.

As rewarding as this feels, picking the right song to blend seamlessly with the story being told is not a quick nor an easy task. Telling a story about a holiday maker requires a drastically different song choice to a story of growth and development. Are you looking for a funny theme, allowing the audience to feel young and free again, or something deeply touching and emotional that leave the audience feeling touched and thoughtful? It’s all about experimentation, and acceptance that not everything will always work (no matter how good the song is either!)

But I feel the payoff is undeniable. The connection, the emotion, the shared sense of wonder - those moments remind me every time why I do what I do.
